All of the candidates that will compete in the Korea Game Awards, which will be announced on November 13th, the day before G-Star 2024, have been confirmed.
The Korea Game Awards is an event hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, organized by the Korea Game Industry Association, and sponsored by <Electronic Times> and <Sports Chosun>.
The nominees for the main award are Hanbitsoft's <Granado Espada M>, Netmarble Neo's <I Alone Level Up: Arise>, NX3 Games' <Lord Nine>, Shiftup's <Stellar Blade>, Lelu Games' <Uncover the Smoking Gun>, Meerkat Games' <Genesis Mobile>, Oven Games' <Cookie Run: Tower of Adventure>, Epid Games' <Trickalive>, and Nexon Games' <First Descendants>.
The game is 3 strong, 2 medium, and 4 weak. <I Alone Level Up: Arise>, <Stella Blade>, and <First Descendants> are the 3 strong. They set records in various areas such as sales.
The second is <Cookie Run: Tower of Adventure> and <Lord Nine>. Both games have been in the top sales rankings for a long time and are still cruising. However, it is unfortunate that they do not have the favorable factors of popularity or global success compared to the previous games.
The remaining games are virtually impossible to win. There are novel attempts like Relu Games' <Uncover the Smoking Gun>, but looking at the works that have won the award so far, they have killed three birds with one stone: topicality, box office success, and game playability.
Even <Trickalive>, which entered the top sales rankings during the anniversary event, is having a hard time competing with the top three games when looking at the overall report card. <Granado Espada M> and <Genesis Mobile> have a history of not even making it to the top rankings and being pushed out of the top 100.
The key points to watch are who among the top three games will receive the grand prize for 'and for what reason' and whether the second game can bring about a twist such as the grand prize.
The nominees for the Popularity Award were Pau Games' <The Legend of Heroes: Gagav Trilogy>, Blizzard Entertainment's <World of Warcraft: Civil War>, and 111 Percent's <Lucky Zone Game>.
In this section, it is difficult to estimate since the main award winners such as <First Descendants> and <I Alone Level Up: Arise> are nominated. One game can win multiple awards at the Korea Game Awards.
