[Financial News] A trial was held for a woman in her 20s who suffered a shock of sexual assault by her father's junior whom she called her uncle and followed, and who regressed to the intelligence level of a 4-year-old and eventually died. The bereaved family, who had lost their daughter, cried out in court, "We want strong punishment."
According to Newsis on the 25th, the trial was held on the 23rd at the Nonsan Branch of the Daejeon District Court (Presiding Judge Lee Hyeon-woo) with the examination of the bereaved family as witnesses.
During the trial that day, the victim's mother, Ms. A, appeared in front of the courtroom, holding a memorial photo of her deceased daughter to her chest and wearing the same clothes her daughter had been wearing at the time of the assault, leaving
the courtroom silent. Ms. A tearfully appealed, "Your Honor! Please grant my daughter's wish. When my daughter left, she couldn't close her eyes, but went with them open. If my daughter had closed her eyes, she wouldn't have come to court today."
At her cry, the stern courtroom was instantly filled with tears.
C, the director of the sexual violence counseling center who attended the witness examination, testified, “When I first met the victim, B, she didn’t look like a 24-year-old adult, as she was drooling while eating bread,” and “The victim’s condition was so serious that I had never seen her regress to a childlike state.”
D, who is under suspicion as a suspect, was an acquaintance of B’s father and was someone B treated like an uncle.
The mother, Ms. A, explained, "The child's father and I were often away for work, and Mr. D, who worked in insurance, helped us a lot with our daily lives, so we were like family," and "Since we didn't have much contact with relatives, we were closer than family since 2005."
Regarding how she learned of the assault, Ms. A stated, "I heard that he attempted to forcibly sexually assault me in the backseat under the pretext of taking driving lessons in a parking lot near Noseongsanseong Fortress in the area," and "At that time, I found my daughter's head hit the car handle and was injured."
Ms. A was furious, saying, "I have no intention of settling with Mr. B even if I were given the whole world," and "I want him to be severely punished."

After being sexually assaulted, Ms. B's condition deteriorated to the point where she could not recognize her parents. He was diagnosed with a cognitive decline to the level of a 4-year-old due to extreme stress.
Mr. B's condition seemed to be improving little by little with continuous treatment and care from his parents, but after accidentally encountering Mr. D at a mart in June of last year, his condition rapidly worsened and he died two months later. Mr. D was currently indicted in June on charges of rape resulting in death and defamation of a deceased person. He is accused of sexually assaulting Mr. B five times in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province in November 2021, causing her death from the shock. The next witness examination is scheduled for the 1st of next month.
