[Suwon=Newsis] Reporter Lee Byeong-hee = Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon had a time to communicate with 5,000 Gyeonggi Province residents in one place to commemorate Gyeonggi Province Residents' Day (October 18).
On the 26th, Gyeonggi Province held the 'One Wonderful Day in October, Gyeonggi Province Residents' Picnic' at Gyeonggi Peace Square in Uijeongbu and carried out various programs such as an awards ceremony to commemorate Gyeonggi Province Residents' Day, a handshake talk with the governor, and cultural performances.
Gyeonggi Province has been holding the Gyeonggi Citizens' Day (October 18) event every year to commemorate the first use of the name 'Gyeonggi (京畿)' in 1018 during the reign of King Hyeonjong of Goryeo. It is a place where the Gyeonggi Province Governor and residents meet and communicate in person.
Governor Kim Dong-yeon said, "Last year, we held this event in Suwon, but this year, I wanted to hold it in the northern part of the country, so I insisted on holding it in Uijeongbu. Gyeonggi Province and I have been working hard to develop the northern part of the country, including the northern development, public medical centers, and pet theme parks. I think today's picnic with residents is proof of our love for the northern part. I hope you enjoy it to your heart's content."
The event consisted of a citizen-participatory policy ranking quiz show, a true or false quiz, and a free Q&A session on provincial administration that residents had pre-registered for online.
The policies that the residents sympathized with through online voting are as follows: 1st place The Gyeonggi Pass, 2nd place 4.5-day workweek, 3rd place Climate Action Opportunity Income, 4th place Gyeonggi-do Nursing SOS Project, 5th place Gyeonggi 360˚ Care, and 6th place Investment Attraction 100 Trillion+. In addition, Gyeonggi Youth Ladder, Gyeonggi Northern Remodeling Project, and Climate Satellite were selected as anticipated policies.
Governor Kim communicated with the residents of Gyeonggi-do by introducing the Gyeonggi-do policies that made the rankings one by one.
When a young man from Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do who is preparing for employment in Gyeonggi-do asked, "I'm curious about what youth policies or employment policies there are for residents of Gyeonggi-do," Governor Kim answered, "There are matching programs with companies, new training programs, and many programs that allow you to start a business or create a job. If you come to Gyeonggi-do, we will provide many opportunities like this, so please come without worrying."
The pre-event included performances by artists from northern Gyeonggi Province and a performance by the Gyeonggi Province Policy Travel Troupe, featuring the cast of Gag Concert, which has been touring cities and counties in the province since August to provide useful provincial government information. The Pocheon City Boys and Girls Choir opened the event with a handshake, and the second half featured congratulatory performances by popular singers.
The event venue also featured a discount agricultural and livestock product market, food trucks, and an outdoor library, where many residents enjoyed an autumn picnic.
In addition, the province presented the 'Gyeonggi Province Citizen Award' to eight residents who contributed to the development of Gyeonggi Province to commemorate the 7th Gyeonggi Province Citizen Day.
